We match Baltimore homeowners who have small projects with volunteers who want to actually do something on a weekend.

If you have a project

You cover materials. We handle everything else.

Submit your project — if it’s a good fit, we’ll put together a build day and show up with a crew. You don’t need to coordinate anything or round up help. That’s our job.

The sweet spot: small to medium projects, clearly scoped, doable in a day. Painting, yard work, organizing, basic repairs, exterior cleanup. Not sure if it qualifies? Submit it anyway and we’ll tell you.

If you want to volunteer

No experience needed. Show up, work, learn something.

Build days are hands-on — you’ll pick up real skills, meet people who know how to do things, and actually finish something by end of day. No passive networking, no theoretical workshops.

Why this exists

A lot of useful projects don’t get done. Too small to hire out, not enough budget to tackle alone, or just stuck on the “someday” list — even when knocking them out would make a real difference.

Meanwhile, plenty of people want more from their free time than another social event. They want to learn something with their hands. They want to feel like they actually did something.

That’s the gap Charm City Works fills.

We also think the moment matters. As more work gets automated or moved online, practical skills and local problem-solving are worth more — not less. Something real is worth building here.

What we take on

In scope: painting and refresh work, yard and exterior cleanup, organizing neglected spaces, beginner-friendly repairs, small improvements with visible results.

Out of scope: structural work, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, demolition, hazardous conditions, or anything requiring a licensed contractor. We keep it useful and realistic.
